Day 16

This morning we attended a lecture at the Pinakothek der Moderne about Renate Heintze and her path to studio jewellery. honestly I am beginning to feel the exhaustion of the trip and although there were some interesting bits of information I feel as though it could have been delivered in a more upbeat an inspiring manor. afterwards we all walked around the museum, especially focusing on the basement collection of contemporary jewellery and the Tone Viceland exhibition on the upper level. both were amazing collections, with the basement collection encompassing a broad spectrum of art jewellery and I think it was even at this point walking past some of the cabinets and thinking to myself, 'hey I know that style thats so and so' or recognising trends or similarities in pieces created in a similar contexts or time periods. as far at the Viceland exhibition goes his body of work was incredible and overwhelmingly intricate. after that Shianne and I made our way to the Handshake exhibition and Karen Pontoppidan and her Knell- The Gender Bell exhibition. Both of which were really interesting, the clothesline conversation was a really clever way to communicate the concept of the project and also a really good way to display the works. alternatively, The Gender Bell was a beautiful demonstration in the importance of the hidden with each bell featuring a simple similar stitched outer shell and the clappers (yes I looked it up, that is the official name of the bell ringer thing inside the bell shape) were all different explorations in themselves which I thought was very clever. After those exhibitions we walked around for a little and then made our way back to the hostel for some needed time with our journals.
