Day 04

The day started late and ended late. We begun our day at London Tower for some touristic photo ops and then made our way to the Fashion and Textile Museum to see the Josef Frank exhibition. The textiles featured were incredible, the vibrancy of the colours and intimacy of design was fascinating especially for a time period I generally associate with being bland and serious. From there we made our way back to Southbank and into studio fusion which held a really eclectic collection, I found some of the finer work really interesting, there was also work with natural flat river stones which I really enjoyed, they were similar to another artist I've been following named Nicole Ringgold which I really really like. Then, after a nice and soggy walk to the underground we headed to UAL: Central Saint Martins for a tour with Carline Broadhead of the jewellery studios and workshops which were amazing. Although we have more space at SCA I think the sheer volume of students would have created quite an exciting creative space to be making in. After a debacle with a fire alarm we headed to the materials library which was to die for!  To finish our day we took the underground to Elephant and Castle for twilight canapés with Donna Brennan in her studio which was quite inspirational and really great to not only be surrounded by several of her bodies of work but be in her exhibiting and making space while hearing her talk about her career as a jeweller.
