Day 09

We started at the Stedelijk Museum which unfortunately was rearranging their design and jewellery exhibitions so those areas were closed, however there were still some cool exhibitions on modernism, a kinetic sculpture and a really interesting photographer from the 60's whose body of work consisted of photos from Amsterdam, Paris, Japan and some African countries focusing on tribal life which was really interesting. From there Agnes and I went to the Van Gogh museum which was so awesome! It was really good seeing paintings that I have only seen pictures of but also ones I never knew he had painted like a cool anatomy study of a skull with a cigarette in its mouth and so many beautiful landscapes. So I spend most of the afternoon there and then went wandering around the city in the rain looking for an adventure store with no prevail but it was nice walking around by myself anyway. Finally for dinner we went to the most pure restaurant called Mother's or Moeder's where the walls are covered with pictures of people's mothers that they send in and the cook Dutch food which was delicious. Then I participated in an entirely recreational, legal, safe, beneficial and reasonable activity with my room mates Maxim and Gil in an exercise to think outside the box that everyone is told is the only way; just because its considered illegal doesn't mean that the law is correct, or that it is bad, considering all things, most of the time it comes down to politics, and for the opinion of some we can thank the timber industry and their ruthless smear campaigns of a certain sustainable alternative natural fibre.
