Day 07
After an early start and some stragglers we made our way to the studio and home of Ruudt Peters and got a lovely introduction to some pieces that will be in his up and coming retrospective and the smaller pins he is using to find the exhibition. A few of us bought one of his pins to support the cause and after some dog patting and collection viewing we made our way to Gallery Rob Koudijs. It was really good to look at the archive collection there and also get an idea for not just multiple types of making and techniques but also how other artists have priced their pieces. Then from there we had some lunch and headed to gallery Ra which had an amazing collection of smithed tools that had be altered into multi-use objects with gold plated editions made from the handles and such. There was another work by Marian Hosking which I really liked and played into my fascination with the natural world. From there we wandered around the streets of Amsterdam and found some beautiful little stores. That evening while talking to maxim and Gil about street art in their cities, Gil told me a story of a friend of his that write the word 'find' in odd places around his city. This story is something I have been thinking over for the past couple of hours and the word 'find' and what it means to me and to the world and I think it has been really good to again be surrounded with travellers from different parts of the world and having interesting conversations about our lives and world and cities has been really beneficial.
