So today was a self directed day to go and explore the MJW exhibitions which was a really good opportunity to get away from the group for some time by myself. I think the best show I saw was The Cat Did It by Akiko Kurihara I loved her work, it was playful, humorous, clever and very skilfully made, and honestly I see a strong connection to my practice in it, not just the tongue in cheek approach but the craftsmanship. So after we had all gone exploring different exhibitions around the city we met back up at a cafe, had some delicious cake and then headed to the Munich academy for a tour. The tour was really interesting and I found it really beneficial in thinking about the future and maybe that is a path I could take in a few years due to the loose degree structure and a step back from the theoretical course component, which is something I find a little tiresome at times. The main thing I think about should I be accepted in the future would be the cold and lack of delicious tropical ocean, but that is just me getting ahead of myself. After some questions and rejoining a grumpy Agnes we made our way to the Off The Shelf exhibition put on by the Central Saint Martins' students which was a really good follow up to our tour through their studios and see what other students are making and the differences in the pieces exhibited; also the free wine was a massive plus.
