Day 13

Laura Deakin & Mari Ishikawa's studio visit

I liked both of their works very much!
Laura's jewellery with pearls were so precious, the designs were simple and elegant.
She seemed very passionate about her work and definitely encouraging for us to participate in competitions to challenge ourselves and to gain experience from those activities. Hearing her talk about her product and artistic line definitely made me contemplate on how I would be able to manage my works after I graduate.

Mari's current exhibition 'parallel world', was about different worlds always existing simultaneously and that we are always able to find. Mari has used akoya pearls in her works and I liked the way she has only used one pearl per piece of work, making it seem more precious and valuable.
She said she was very attracted to lights and shadows, and her works in Moonlight Shadow were very organic and mysterious.
